Psychotherapy

You might understand perfectly well that a relationship isn't working, yet find yourself repeating the same patterns. You might know that drinking is making your life harder but struggle to understand why you keep returning to it.

Individual Psychotherapy

I offer psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy that creates a safe, compassionate space for individuals seeking greater insight and self-understanding. This approach focuses on uncovering the unconscious patterns and past experiences that shape our present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we engage in an open and exploratory process to understand the deeper roots of your challenges, such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or self-doubt.

Every person is unique, but my style is non-directive, curious, and nonjudgmental. In our sessions together, I ask a lot of questions, highlight things you say that seem important or unprocessed, or provide alternative interpretations of events.

You do not need to come to therapy prepared every session. Psychoanalytic therapy emphasizes the spontaneous and creative nature of the therapeutic journey, and sometimes this involves simply inviting to the room whatever is on your mind that day.

Psychodynamic Therapy for Addiction

Drawing from my background in residential and inpatient addictions work, I continue to treat substance use and behavioral addictions from a psychodynamic perspective. While many treatments focus on surface behaviors, I delve into the deep-seated emotional patterns and unconscious processes that fuel addiction. Together, we'll explore these layers to facilitate lasting change.

Psychodynamic therapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for addiction and many other disorders. By examining the unconscious processes and emotional landscapes underlying addiction in addition to acute symptom management, therapy can assist in breaking out of the painful cycle of addiction. Ready to explore the underlying causes of your addiction? Contact me today to schedule a consultation and begin your journey toward lasting recovery.
